  1. Tracking scripts (trackers) and ads that depend on them are blocked by default in Maiar. You can disable or re-enable blocking ads and trackers in the Maiar Safeguard settings. These settings can be applied to all sites, or specific sites in particular. It is up to you.
  2. Maiar Desktop (for Windows and Mac) supports most of the extensions in the Chrome web store. There is no support for extensions for Maiar iOS and Android.
  3. Privacy is a fundamental human right and for Maiar Browser it is also one of its core values. Decades of technology advancements in personal computing, software technology and smart mobile devices have commoditized data, and transformed it into reusable digital packages that are virtually everywhere; copied, analyzed, sold and resold at the speed of light. The internet, proliferation of cloud infrastructures and democratized access to open-source software, have created the premises for many technology businesses to become attention merchants. These merchants capture our attention by providing us with free information, services and entertainment, while reselling it to advertisers. Yet advertising is but secondary to their true business model. Instead, by capturing our attention they accumulate vast amounts of data; data more valuable than any immediate advertising revenue. Hence, we are not their customers, but have become their product. Read more here: Why is my privacy important?
  4. Yes, Maiar is free. Moreover, Maiar’s code is open source and will soon be available on Github. You’ll always be able to use Maiar without paying with money or personal information.
  5. Elrond is an internet-scale blockchain for fast, secure digital payments. Elrond Gold (eGLD) is the native currency of the Elrond blockchain, that you can send, spend and stake using Maiar. You can learn more about Elrond here: https://elrond.com/
  6. Maiar will be available in all countries around the world, except those with specific restrictions to cryptocurrencies.
  7. The Maiar wallet is completely decentralised and non-custodial. We don't store or have access to the user's funds at any time. The user owns the private key and has full control over their funds.
  8. The phone number and address book information is not stored by Maiar, is processed locally and never leaves the user's phone. A one way hashing mechanism is being used when interacting with the user's phone number, as well as during the contacts matching process, therefore the user's privacy is protected
  9. Maiar is free to download and use. The Elrond Network however, has minimal fees (as low as $0.001 per transaction) associated with payments in order to support security and speed of transactions. Maiar will always clearly display any fees charged so there are no surprises or hidden costs.
  10. Initially, Maiar will support eGold (eGLD), Binance (BNB) and Ethereum (ETH). Over time, Maiar intends to support additional digital currencies, like BTC, ERC20 and BEP2 tokens.
  11. Maiar protects your assets and data using cutting edge encryption and verification techniques to ensure they are securely stored. In the event where your phone is lost or stolen, your private key (recovery phrase) can be safely used to recover your funds. So it is important to backup and store safely your recovery phrase. At the launch Maiar will support as backup options: manual backup of the recovery phrase and a cloud option. In the future a third option, social recovery, that will involve nominating several "guardians" (close and trusted friends or contacts or third-party services).
  12. The Maiar (singular: Maia) are among a class of beings from J. R. R. Tolkien‘s high fantasy legendarium, like Lord of the Rings. Being of divine origin and possessing great power, the Maiar can wander the world unseen or shape themselves in fashion of Elves or other creatures. Maiar had great skills of hand and mind but were cloaked in the guise of men, seemingly old but of great vigour. Their mission was to guide elves and men by gaining trust and spreading knowledge, not by ruling them with fear and force. Gandalf the Grey (Olórin or Mithrandir; later Gandalf the White) was one of most known Maiar. Read more here: https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Maiar

  16. Hello Maiar Community, Welcome to the future of money! Maiar is powered by the amazing technology of the Elrond blockchain, and is going to radically change the way we interact with money. Maiar offers a digital identity layer that starts with a service mapping the phone number to a wallet address while preserving privacy and allowing users to send money to friends and family via their address book. The Maiar team is always trying to find ways to improve our product and create a more enjoyable user experience for all of you. We want to know: what features you need, the coins you’re desperate for, your vision of a decentralized future, and any issues you’ve encountered! One of the most common ways we go about ensuring the quality and integrity of fixes/new features in our apps is by sending them through the release pipeline. This ensures that new changes to our apps have had a chance to be rigorously tested and adjusted so that issues can be addressed before they make it to the public stable release. While we do a lot of testing and quality assurance all on our own, we also rely on our users to help spot new issues and report on what’s not working. If you want to help Maiar provide the best possible experience for its users, we invite you to try Maiar beta today and share your feedback. You can download Maiar Beta at: Android - Google Play: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.elrond.maiar.wallet Apple - Testflight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/BRfJXsQM You will need an invite code. You can join the waiting list here or request for a code here. Please note, while the Maiar Team will have an active role within the forum, this isn’t a place for customer support. For problems relating to privacy concerns, please contact us via our Support chat channel inside the app.
